  Baseline/Map/Monitoring Questions
Q: I am monitoring a Q-map and I want to receive an alarm when a link bandwidth usage is larger than 60%, how can I do this?
Answer: Inside the Monitor window, click on the Alarm Setting button and then select the Interface Traffic option from the left. On the right side of the window, input your desired alarm trigger. For example, if you want an alarm to sound when interface traffic reaches or exceeds 3 Mbps, then select the greater than or equal option, input 3 and select the Mbps unit.
Q: When I diagram a device group, your system layouts devices too close or too far. Is there anything I can do on it except manually adjusting the map?
Answer: You can automatically adjust the layout by right-clicking on the Q-map and then select Auto Layout.
Q: I already set the device setting for a router correctly but failed to retrieve the routing table from this router, why?
Answer: There are two possible reasons:
1. There are more than 6000 routing entries for the router, and the max route entries you’ve setup is only 6,000. You can adjust the max number by going to Tools > Options > Routing Table
2. By default, NetBrain Workstation retrieves the routing table under privilege mode. You might not have entered privilege mode because the enable password is incorrect. You can uncheck the “Enter the privilege mode while retrieving live routing table” option from the Device Settings window.
Q: There are more than 100 devices in my workspace; do I need manually set the device setting for each device in order to batch retrieve the live data?
Answer: You can enter all possible usernames/passwords, enable password or SNMP RO string in the Live Network Setting, and then you can use Device Check Wizard to automatically match the values to their respective device.
Q: After I build a workspace, how can I add or remove a device from this workspace?
Answer: You can add or remove devices from existing workspace by using the Workspace Maintenance feature. Head over to the Workspace menu and then click on Workspace Maintenance.
Q: I have no device configuration file or only have a small set of network configurations, how can I build a completed baseline?
Answer: You can easily and automatically build a complete baseline using NetBrain Workstation’s Discover Cisco Devices feature. This feature allows you to discover network devices automatically by input either an IP range or a seed router. Head over to the Tools menu and then select Discover Cisco Devices.
Q: What type of network devices does your system support? And what vendors does your system support?
Answer: Currently, NetBrain Workstation supports the following devices:
1. Router
2. IOS Switch
3. Firewall
4. Catalyst Switch

Currently, NetBrain Workstation supports the following vendors (select list):
1. Cisco Systems
2. 3Com
3. HP

10. Nortel
  Analysis Questions
Q: I ran analysis and found too many route changes. How can your system help me sort them out?
Answer: You can use the Auto-Group table to help you sort out route changes. You only need to analyze one route in the auto-group table to view all similar routes.
Q: I will make a network change and would like to run analysis to assure my change, what preparation should I take?
Answer: For Enterprise Edition users, you can leverage NetBrain Workstation’s Design Flow feature to assure your network change is smooth and reliable.
For Professional Edition users, you can retrieve device data before the change and then retrieve the device data after the change so you can compare the before and after difference.
Q: It took a long time to discover a Q-Path via SNMP, why?
Answer: There are many possible reasons, two of the most likely reasons are:
* Network latency is too large
* SNMP cannot reach
  Simulation/IC/Design Flow Questions
Q: I plan to modify a few device configurations, how I can be sure that these changes do not violate a set of IC rules?
Answer: You can create a new integrity check scheme and then select the rules you wish to implement. After you have modified the device configurations, run the configuration through the check scheme to see if your changes violated any rules.
Q: Can I add a new IC rule or modify an IC rule?
Answer: Yes, you can add a new IC rule or modify an IC rule by select the Manage Integrity Check Rules from the Design menu.
Q: I plan to modify a router configuration but am not sure the effect caused by this change, how can the simulation help me?
Answer: Use the Design Task feature and follow the workflow to view how the routes have changed due to changes to the configuration files.
Q: I do not have the configuration files for a segment of my network, but I do I have the routing tables. How can I simulated my network?
Answer: You can use the External Route Manager to import the boarder routers into the baseline.
Q: Does the simulation feature in NetBrain Workstation support all of dynamic routing protocol? What vendors does it support?
